The HMS Plymouth, the last of the type 12 anti-submarine frigates of the "rothesay" class in servece, was launched on 20th July 1959 They were named after coastal resorts

Over 1965, PLYMOUTH carried out a third and fourth mission in the Far East, visiting Thailand, Singapore and Australia and after Christmas 1965 a fruitful period on Beira Patrol off the African Coast
